The Maintenance / Custodian is responsible for upholding the safety and appearance of our special needs pre-school and group homes in Nassau County, New York.
Minimum requirements include, but are not limited to:
Maintenance Worker Requirements:
Adhere to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety & welfare of facilities, individual and employees Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, completing assigned checklists that include daily, weekly, and monthly detail Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and use responsibly Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, painting, building repairs.
Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, snow removal, etc.
in an efficient and timely manner.
Responsibilities include, but limited to, cleaning bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors, Hygienic cleaning, and garbage collection and removal.
Policies & Communication Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor Respond promptly to program needs throughout facility Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor as soon as they are discovered Work independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first Report to work for snow removal as needed Qualifications & Work Experience High school diploma/GED, required Must have 1-2 years' general maintenance and facility cleaning skills Must have valid Driver's License Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
